SRC/VHF MARINE RADIO COURSE

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio.

 

This course is for the TRAINING ELEMENT ONLY as a CLASSROOM COURSE at ur centre in Lincoln, UK.

There is an EXAM to take at the conclusion of the training which costs £60 and is paid in addition to the course fee above.

 

It is possible to just book an EXAM if you have already completed the on line course and have your completion number - please see our EXAM ONLY listing in the shop

 

Course topics include:

 

the basics of radio operation 

the correct frequencies (channels) to be used 

distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures 

making ship to shore communication

Digital Selective Calling (DSC) using simulators 

Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) 

Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB) 

Search and Rescue (SART) 

 

Following successful completion of our CLASSROOM COURSE we will organise an exam that needs to be taken for you to complete your training and gain the actual certificate. 

 

This will be organised for the same day as the actual course.

 

The exam will include a short written multiple choice test and a practical session using our VHF/SRC simulators.

 

Remember - If you complete the ONLINE TRAINING or CLASSROOM TRAINING with us we DO NOT CHARGE for you to attend for your exam but you do have to pay OFCOM through the RYA website £60 prior to attending.
